1988, 1989-90: WELLINGTON PIG
Officially, this band originally featured Mark Birdsall on guitar, but as that incarnation only lasted for one New Years Eve party in 1988 (At Richard Grundy’s parents house – see Doghouse MK2) it hasn’t been included here. Basically, Tim and Gavin had carried on rehearsing and writing material together – mostly varied instrumental stuff- which culminated in a recording session at Woodhouse Studios in Leeds. The band gradually evolved into a four piece funk metal outfit (think Faith No More/Living Colour/RHCP) but gradually disintegrated due to the usual “artistic differences” Matt Duggan and Lee Wood went off and formed the metal outfit “Exile”. Matt now sings in Scooby and the tribute band Iron-on Maiden. Lee Wood, who Gavin often quotes as being the “best rock guitarist I’ve ever worked with” became a DJ.
