Rock Family Tree
Part 2 (1 3 4 5 6 7 8)

1989-90: CARRERA
USA style pomp rock, think Toto, Foreigner etc. Very successful on the Bradford scene, for a time playing venues like Queen’s Hall, St Georges Hall, and managed by Kim Wilde’s tour manager. Featured Roger Carr on vocals (now of 11 Rude Noises).

1990-92: THE DEAL
Blues rock trio led by the great guitar and vocals of Duncan Wood. Gavin’s first serious stab at singing and songwriting, he actually wrote “Maybe I’m a Leo” whilst playing in this band. The Deal played most of the UK blues circuit gigs, were resident at The Duchess in Leeds (remember that?) for a while, and supported acts like The Groundhogs, Chickenshack, The Hamsters and The Blues Band. It’s also worth mentioning that busy Session player Ian Hawkins has played both bass and drums for various later incarnations of The Deal
